In view of the recent wave of terrorism, Rangers have been authorized to conduct intelligence-based operations in three cities of Punjab. Operations will be carried out in sensitive districts till June 30.


The secret operations of the Rangers were decided in the law and order meeting of the Punjab Home Department, under which the Rangers will be able to conduct intelligence-based operations till June 30.


CTD issued fifty-three threat alerts last month, according to which Lahore, Attock and DG Khan have been declared as the most sensitive districts, where terrorist organizations can target political and religious figures, in view of the same concerns. Rangers will carry out covert operations keeping the three sensitive districts on priority.


The meeting also considered increasing the capacity and resources of the police, CTD and other security agencies.
