Notice issued to Governor by Principal Secretary and Election Commission

The Lahore High Court has issued notices to the Governor through the Principal Secretary and the Election Commission against not giving the date of general elections in Punjab.

A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court on the petition of PTI against not giving the date of general elections in Punjab.

On behalf of PTI, Barrister Ali Zafar said in his arguments that the Governor of Punjab is bound to give the date of the election.

On the instructions of Justice Jawad Hassan, Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asad Umar read out the relevant paragraph of the constitution related to the election.

Asad Umar said that the term political justice in the paragraph is new to me too.

Justice Jawad Hasan asked Assistant Attorney General that Tehreek-e-Insaf and Election Commission wrote letters to you, are you suspended?

On the court inquiry, the lawyer of the federal government asked for adjournment for arguments, he said that he came to Lahore from Karachi on Saturday, Maryam Nawaz had also returned at the same time, I was stuck for half an hour.

On the Assistant Attorney General's speech, Justice Jawad Hassan remarked that this is not PTI's problem, it is the Pakistani people's problem, this is democracy's problem, inflation is increasing in the country, the situation is bad, what are you doing?

The assistant attorney general replied that I am the lawyer of the federal government, not the governor, on which the court inquired why the principal secretary of the governor did not come? Governor Punjab is here or not?

The distinguished judge remarked that important legal points have been raised in the petition of Tehreek-e-Insaaf, the High Court has asked for detailed reports from both the parties.

The court issued notices to the Governor through the Principal Secretary and the Election Commission, further hearing of the case will be held on February 3.
